From June 21-23, Prof. Voigt, Lukas Maier, and Christian Baccarella attended the 18th Open and User Innovation (OUI) Conference. The OUI Conference is the leading academic meeting on user, open, collaborative, and free innovation.

Lukas (on behalf of the entire author team: Martin Schreier (WU Vienna), Christian Baccarella and Kai-Ingo Voigt) successfully presented our research “University Knowledge Inside! How and When University-Industry Collaborations Make New Products More Attractive to Consumers”. This research is the first to investigate how consumers perceive university-co-developed products.

Besides the great presentations, there was another highlight at OUI. The “icons” of open and user Innovation research, Eric v. Hippel and Henry Chesbrough, came together and talked about current topics in the field and future research avenues. What a highlight! Moreover, Prof. Nik Franke and Prof. Georg von Krogh gave interesting impulses presentations on contemporary open and user innovation topics.

We thank the entire RWTH Aachen team for setting up such a nice conference in these challenging times! We are happy to be part of the OUI community and are looking forward to the OUI2022 in Zurich – hopefully in person again!
