Industry 4.0 research article published in Journal “Sustainability”

We are happy to announce that our latest research article “Development of a Risk Framework for Industry 4.0 in the Context of Sustainability for Established Manufacturers “ was published in the professional journal sustainability. The author team comprises of Hendrik Birkel and Prof. Dr. Evi Hartmann (Chair of Supply Chain Management), Prof. Dr. Julian Müller (FH Salzburg), Johannes Veile and Prof. Dr. Kai-Ingo Voigt (Chair of Industrial Management). The article was developed within the Emerging Fields Initiative (EFI) “Sustainable Smart Industry: Industry 4.0 as a model for future sustainable value creation”. Based on a qualitative empirical study design using 14 interviews with managers from German companies, our article sheds light on risks that arise from Industry 4.0, for instance, economical, ecological, and social risk. Subsequently, the article develops a framework to analyze the risks and proposes both managerial and theoretical implications.
