The Chair of Industrial Management would like to announce the publication in leading international journals of research articles discussing how Industry 4.0 impacts industrial value creation. Julian Müller, Oana Buliga, and Kai-Ingo Voigt analyze how small and medium-sized enterprises can profit from Industry 4.0 in the article “Fortune favors the prepared: How SMEs approach business model innovations in Industry 4.0” published in Technological Forecasting and Social Change (2018) (available here and currently in press for the Special Issue Proliferation of Meso-Industrial Revolutions: Is Industry 4.0 just one of the waves?). The article highlights business model implications for Industry 4.0 users and providers and presents four implementation stages of Industry 4.0.

Daniel Kiel, Julian Müller, Christian Arnold, and Kai-Ingo Voigt show in the article “Sustainable Industrial Value Creation: Benefits and Challenges of Industry 4.0” how Industry 4.0 not only touches the economic, ecological, and social aspects of value creation, but that sustainable production also relates to technical integration, data and information, and public context. The article is published in the International Journal of Innovation Management (2017), 21(8) and is available here.

Further, the article „What Drives the Implementation of Industry 4.0? The Role of Opportunities and Challenges in the Context of Sustainability” by Julian Müller, Daniel Kiel, and Kai-Ingo Voigt is accepted for publication in Sustainability (Special Issue on Industry 4.0 and the Internet of things: changes in business model, strategy formulation and implementation, firm operations towards sustainable development and sustainability).
