The German industry, which has long been a role model and showcase economic model, is facing pressure to adapt to economic uncertainty, new competitors from all around the world, and the transition to greener technologies. Successfully navigating this crisis is crucial not only to preserve jobs and economic stability, but also to maintain long-term competitiveness. In our renowned seminar with Prof. Heinrich von Pierer, former Siemens CEO and currently CEO at Pierer Consulting, our talented students analyzed strategies to manage the crisis of a selection of German industry giants: Volkswagen, Continental, Lufthansa, Thyssenkrupp, and Bayer.
This week, we kicked off the first of two presentation sessions in our 40th joint seminar with Prof. Heinrich von Pierer and started with Volkswagen, Continental, and Lufthansa. Across the presentations, one thing became evident: The management boards are aware of the task at hand and action is on the way. Although it will be a bumpy ride, Germany’s industry giants have already started their engines. Now, it is time to take off – hopefully, in the right direction.
Prof. Voigt and Michael Mertel extend their gratitude to Prof. v. Pierer, Dr. Dörrie, and the participating student groups for their collaborative efforts and the fruitful discussions! We are already looking forward to our second presentation session next week on the challenges ahead for Thyssenkrupp and Bayer! See you there 😊
