Battery Lifecycle, Decarbonization and Sustainability Strategy – Inspiring Seminar Presentations and Discussions with BMW CEO Prof. Dr. h.c. Oliver Zipse at FAU WiSo

On July 3rd, we once again had the pleasure of concluding our seminar Industry 5.0 – Germany’s Future of Sustainable Industrial Value Creation” with a final presentations session at FAU WiSo. Prof. Dr. Markus Beckmann and Prof. Dr. Kai-Ingo Voigt were honored to welcome Prof. Dr. h.c. Oliver Zipse (CEO BMW) and Dr. Irene Feige (Head of Climate Strategy and Circular Economy BMW) as the co-hosts. This semester, our twelve dedicated students explored three future-oriented sustainability topics, examining battery lifecycle management in the automotive industry, developing decarbonization roadmaps for the sector, and analyzing the interplay between sustainability strategy, corporate strategy, and competitive advantage. Each group delivered a well-researched presentation that sparked in-depth discussions with our guests from BMW’s top management and offered students a rare chance to exchange ideas with executives shaping the future of the German automotive industry.

We thank Prof. Zipse and Dr. Feige for their inspiring participation and continuous support of this format. A big thank you also Prof. Marvin Nipper and Dr. Thomas Becker for the collaboration on this seminar and to our students for their strong performance and passionate engagement!
