On 31st January 2018, Dr. Daniel Gerhard, coordinator of the corporate project “Additive Manufacturing” at Schaeffler Technologies AG & Co. KG, gave a guest lecture for the students of the course “BWL für Ingenieure”. In his presentation entitled “Management of New Technologies Using the Example of Additive Manufacturing”, he showed the large potential of 3D-printing and additive manufacturing processes for industry in general as well as for the Middle Franconian machine engineering and automotive manufacturer Schaeffler. In order to paint a complete picture, he also discussed current challenges of such manufacturing technologies and their implementation. Finally, he provided the students with insights into Schaeffler’s several management activities and measures to tap the full potential of innovative production technologies for long-term and sustainable corporate success.

The students’ curious questions formed a successful closing of the guest lecture. Prof. Dr. Kai-Ingo Voigt and the team of the Chair of Industrial Management thank Dr. Gerhard very much for his commitment and look forward to further visits!
