For the fourth year in a row, many board members and representatives of well-known cooperative banks followed the invitation to the “Bankentag 2017” of the Research Institute for Cooperatives in Nuremberg. This conference aims to point out recent developments as well as challenges and solutions in the banking sector. Given that the banking sector recently faces several challenges, this year’s conference was held under the topic “Profitability in banking business – successfully making business in challenging times”. Prof. Dr. Voigt, president of the Research Institute for Cooperatives, welcomed more than 50 participants who listened to interesting and exciting presentations of Dr. Matthias Everding (Sparkasse Nürnberg), Mr. Jörg Bruch (TeamBank Nürnberg), Mr. Dirk Helmbrecht (VR-Bank Nürnberg), Prof. Dr. Matthias Fischer (TH Nürnberg), Dr. Richard Reichel (FAU Erlangen- Nürnberg, Research Institute for Cooperatives), as well as Dr. Alexander Büchel (Genossenschaftsverband Bayern). Apart from the presentations, the event offered a valuable platform for information interchange between science and practice. The day’s program can be found here. Prof. Dr. Voigt as president as well as the entire institute give many thanks to all speakers and participants. We are looking forward to welcoming you to next year’s event again!
