On February 21st, as part of the “Innovation Module” of Prof. Voigt, the MBA class 2019-2021 had the opportunity to visit the adidas headquarter in Herzogenaurach. After having a short tour across the fascinating adidas campus, Dr. Timm Wagner, Elizabeth Martin and Willem van Beuningen (all members of the adidas Future Team) gave interesting insights into Adidas’ innovation activities. They talked about the innovation culture at adidas and how important it is to actively live this culture. Moreover, they highlighted the important role of the future team within the company and shared insights in their (open) innovation processes and methods.

Besides that, we discussed different innovation projects in the field of sustainability within the class. In the last few years, adidas has come up with several innovative concepts trying to be more sustainable. For example, adidas invented the so called “Futurecraft Loop”, a performance running shoe made to be remade. The “Futurecraft Loop” is a 100% recyclable shoe and can be returned to adidas, broken down and reused to create new performance running shoes.

Prof. Dr. Kai-Ingo Voigt, Dr. Christian Baccarella and Lukas Maier are very thankful for the hospitality and the great cooperation and we are already looking forward to seeing you soon again!
