The Chair of Industrial Management is happy to announce to be part of the BIOTEXFUTURE project. BIOTEXFUTURE is an innovation space funded by Federal Ministry of Education and Research (‘Bundesministerium fuer Bildung und Forschung’, Germany). Since November 2019, adidas is co-leading the program in collaboration with the RWTH Aachen University. In this project, different industrial and scientific partners collaborate with the aim to convert the textile value chain from petroleum-based to bio-based.

As one project partner, the Chair of Industrial Management aims to investigate the “demand-side” of bio-based products. In particular, we aim to examine how consumers perceive bio-based products and how to positively influence consumers’ attitudes and purchase decisions in this context. To achieve this aim, we collaborate with the AI-company Symanto Research. Specifically, we leverage consumer data from social media by using Symanto’s artificial intelligence technology. Based on these insights, we will run several (field) experiments to provide practical insights into how firms should communicate bio-based products to consumers.
