On September 27th, Prof. Voigt and the team of the Chair of Industrial Management, including some highly valued alumni, made a study trip to Castell in order to visit and experience the production facilities of one of the oldest winemakers in Franconia. We warmly thank Graf Wolfgang zu Castell-Castell for welcoming us to this historic site. After visiting the wine cellars, he personally showed us the routes through the picturesque vineyards of Castell, including some breathtaking viewpoints along the way. During this guided walk, Graf Wolfgang explained the history, current consumer trends, as well as the use of new technologies in the wine industry. For example, we discussed the use of new water recycling systems that are being installed to reduce the amount of wastewater and further reduce the ecological impact of vineyards, especially in times of water shortage. We ended our tour on one of the many lookout points in the heart of the hills of the vineyard.

The Chair would like to thank Graf Wolfgang and the whole Castell-Team very much for making this trip a truly inspiring experience!
