From June 13-15, the Chair of Industrial Management attended the DRUID conference hosted by Copenhagen Business School. Since 1996, DRUID has become one of the world’s premier academic conferences on innovation, entrepreneurship and the dynamics of structural, institutional and geographic change.

Lukas (on behalf of the entire author team: Christian Baccarella, Daniel Gerhard, and Kai-Ingo Voigt) successfully presented our research “You Must Be Joking! How Humor in Business Pitches Influences Young Ventures’ Pitching Success”. Using two different data sources, this research shows that using positive (negative) humor in business pitches increases (decreases) funding likelihood and funding amount. Moreover, we show that these effects are mediated by perceived competence of the pitching entrepreneur.

Besides a range of great parallel paper sessions, the conference included research talks from several distinguished plenary speakers and an attractive social program.

We thank the entire DRUID team for setting up another successful conference at Copenhagen Business School! We are already looking forward to the DRUID conference 2023!
