Successful founders and their road to success! Students analyze their strategies and discuss with Prof. von Pierer virtually
On January 11th 2022, once again, the Chair of Industrial Management welcomed Prof. Dr. Heinrich von Pierer, former SIEMENS CEO and currently CEO at Pierer Consulting, and Dr. Ulrich Dörrie (former employee of the Chair of Industrial Management), at FAU in Nürnberg. It’s already 33rd seminar with Prof. von Pierer.
In this semester, the students were given the challenging task of examining globally successful entrepreneurs and their companies. In this context, the five student groups analyzed the automobile manufacturer Tesla (Elon Musk), the online retailers Amazon (Jeff Bezos) and Alibaba (Jack Ma), as well as the search engine service provider Google (Larry Page), and the luxury conglomerate LVMH (Bernard Arnault). The students came to the conclusion that all personalities and companies are unique in their form. In addition, the framework conditions in which companies operate are extremely complex, so that the personalities analyzed always influence the operational business and find creative approaches to constantly face new challenges with their companies. All student groups had delivered a great performance which was noticeable in the final discussions.
Unfortunately, due to COVID-19, the final dinner together could not take place. However, the students had the opportunity to talk to Prof. von Pierer and ask questions about his person and professional career.
Prof. Voigt, Dr. Oscar Pakos, and Michael Mertel thank Prof. von Pierer, Dr. Dörrie, and all students for the time and great collaboration in the seminar. We are already looking forward to the summer semester 2022 with exciting topics!
