Following the motto “Bergkirchweih comes but once a year” our chair was once again on a secret academic mission at the Bergkirchweih in Erlangen. Dressed in dirndls and lederhosen, the entire chair team around Prof. Voigt mingled incognito with the enthusiastic students.

At the place where our university was founded, it was important to us to keep the chair flag flying. Especially since some beer cellars are older than our 275-year-old university, it was our duty to attend this traditional festival, in order to understand the economic structures and challenges of this industry.

With solid Bavarian brass music, attending guests were surprised when we suddenly approached them with a small group discussion on economic theory instead of a hearty “prosit”. But after the completion of our short seminar the cheerful berg” atmosphere could finally begin and our practical seminar ended with a tasting of the product 😉
