The Sustainable Smart Industry project, which is running since 2017 as part of the Emerging Fields Initiative, is being extended for further twelve months. At the presentation for the interim evaluation, project leader Prof. Kai-Ingo Voigt once again convinced the EFI Advisory Board, consisting of high-ranking representatives of the FAU and external research institutions, of the relevance of our research project.

Within the framework of the project, the industrial internet of things as a model for sustainable value creation will be investigated in interdisciplinary research teams. Special focus is placed on the synergetic use of business and technical expertise of our university. We are very pleased about the extension of this pioneering project and would like to thank all participants for the outstanding teamwork and performance!

After the extension of the successful Emerging Fields Initiative (EFI) project “Sustainable Smart Industry”, Prof. Voigt invited the project teams comprising of twelve chairs of both the Friedrich-Alexander University Erlangen-Nürnberg and the Otto-Friedrich University of Bamberg for the fifth research meeting on November 6th 2018. The teams lively discussed their latest research results on the topics of economic, ecological, and social implications of Industry 4.0, technological infrastructure, as well as software and data.

We are delighted that our research is doing progress with numerous scientific articles, conference contributions, and book chapters published. All project members enjoyed working together and are looking forward to further interesting results from the interdisciplinary project. Please visit the EFI website for further details on the project.
